Why Google Pagerank IS Important
A lot of SEO people will tell you page rank is not important. Well, it is. They can say it until they are blue in the face but the simple fact is, Google Page Rank shows that your site is ranked and trustworthy. Let's look at the following scenarios. Scenario 1. Your site is page ranked 1/2 and you want to get inbound links to boost your rankings for certain keywords. Every time you go about your link marketing you get the same response, "We only link to sites with PR 3 and higher" Your site is page ranked 3/4 and you want to get inbound links to boost your rankings for certain keywords. Every webmaster you contact is happy to speak to you and even happier to exchange links. You then rank higher for your chosen phrases. Success. Scenario 2. Your site is page ranked 1/2 and you are looking to gain new clients by actively marketing. You gain a few but several mention that your site appears to have low Page Rank and perhaps you are new on the scene and they will get back to you at a later date. Your site is page ranked 3/4 and you are looking to gain new clients by actively marketing. Many new clients come on board including the ones who look at your Alexa ranking, your site Page Rank, your inbound links etc. as a means to see how well your site is run. Scenario 3. Your site is Page Ranked 1/2 and you are receiving daily hits to your sign up page. Many potential clients or subscribers are put off by your low Page Rank and never get further than checking you out. Your site is Page Ranked 3/4 and you are receiving daily hits to your sign up page. Although not every one signs up, many of the people who visit this page have noticed that Google ranks you with some level of importance. Thus converting a higher % of visitors into clients/subscribers. These are 3 simple scenarios and both real life ones that happen. I know, I have been there and experienced them. Page Rank may not be the be all and end all but it does show one thing. You have worked hard on every area of your site and have been rewarded by Google by being ranked highly. In turn, the people who look into Page Rank will trust you. Here's the catch 22 though. How do you get pageranked highly if no one will trade links? Simple - Write articles, blog, and use related forums to comment on other peoples posts and blogs. All with your signature at the bottom which includes links to several pages on your site with good anchor texts. In time this will be enough to boost your sites Page Rank and give it that sealed and signed approval, as well as help your ranking for juicy keyphrases. |
