Bored of work? Quit in style!
I was speaking to xxx today and he mentioned to me he is bored with his day job and wants to quit. However, he feels he would be letting the company down and is scared to speak up to the boss regarding the several reasons why he would stay or leave. So, instead he is carrying on in current employment despite it making him thoroughly miserable. Reasons why he wants to quit. 1. He feels undervalued. Gets all the boring mundane tasks and cannot express any of his creativity that made him choose this style of work. 2. He is underpaid. Works 8am - 5.30pm, 6 days a week and gets minimum wage. Despite him being in skilled work. 3. He gets the bare minimum holidays and tends to be asked to work for several days of the few days off he gets. 4. He has to do unpaid overtime from home, this is sometimes taking him to midnight every night and back to work again at 8am. Now - seems to me that he should speak up for himself and probably by the sounds of it either a. Get fired and another laggy brought in or b. Get a better position with more money, holidays and respect within the company. Alternatively he is going to boil and boil, eventually spilling over and quitting dramatically. Which brings us to the question. What is the best way to quit work in style? Here's a few I have came up with, mostly all from memory of others doing them. (wasn't me guv) 1. Plant a logic bomb in the office network and quit as normal. This bomb can be triggered off at some point, may that be though a certain date and time or via an employee meeting the criteria set for the logic bomb to let rip, thus wiping the companies computer network infrastructure and ensuring mayhem for a while. 2. Sleep with the bosses wife - Oh yes indeedy, this is a sureFIRE way to get the boot and in style too. Imagine the weeks of glee and hand rubbing as you remember your bosses face when he found out. 3. Start coming to work an hour late every morning, and leaving an hour early every afternoon. Don't bother doing any work whilst you are there either. Nod and agree with your boss every time he speaks to you about it but in general just ignore all his words and carry on regardless, doing nothing. Order a few pizzas whilst at work and maybe get yourself a nice loud stereo system. Enjoy your days in the office to the max but never ever do any more work. Eventually your services will no longer be needed and you will have had a nice relaxing break. 4. Got access to the work credit card? Order yourself a new work PC, a new desk, a new revolving leather chair, perhaps have someone in to decorate your office. Won't last long in the job after that and will have had some new toys to play with for a while.
